Cancer can place a physical and emotional stress on patients and their families.Ongoing treatment and physical changes can disrupt efforts to get back to a normal life. But patients and their families can feel empowered in their fight against cancer and we can help manage the stress ongoing treatment sometimes imposes.

The Cancer Institute at Alexian Brothers Hospital Network is located on both Alexian Brothers Medical Center campus as well as St. Alexius Medical Center.

There is a resource center for all patient, caregivers, family and community members.This library is filled with educational cancer information, a wide array of videos, books and literature on subjects from nutrition, coping, inspiration, humor, journaling and more. The Alexian Brothers Medical Center library also has a computer to access current cancer information.

The Cancer Institute also provides comfortable space for individual and family counseling, a mainstay of our cancer care throughout treatment. There are a variety of support services including assistance from a licensed social worker, pastoral care, nutrition and support groups. Our counselors are ready to help with key patient concerns, including spiritual needs, nutrition, home health care, transportation and financial affairs. All of these services are free and available to anyone who needs help on his/ her cancer journey.

On the Alexian Brothers Medical Center campus we have a boutique which provides wig and bra fitting services from a licensed cosmetician who is available upon appointment. Also, there is a chapel on site for quiet reflection as well as for services.

The Cancer Institute coordinates massage therapy and specialized healing programs, including Reiki Therapy, fitness and exercise, such as Yoga, and wellness programs: Healing Touch, Restorative Healing Arts and Hypnotherapy. Different support groups and education programs meet weekly to discuss any and all concerns related to cancer.
